Think she's slept funny on it she is now holding her head funny because it hurts. Aunt tried a massage (is a massage therapist) found her to be very tight in the neck, but thinks she may in fact be a little out of alinement in the neck and thinks I may need to take to a
chiropractor. I only thing is she tells me she pays £30 for her chiropractor and I'm not made of money.
Any ideas on what to do would be greatfully received.

My chiro charges less for children.. might be worth a phonecall.

Could it just be a stiff/wry neck which will right itself in a few days? If she is holding her head funny then it could mean she'll have a bit of pain or discomfort in her back but these things often put themselves right.

How many pillows does she have? If she has more than one then take the others away.

Have you changed her mattress or anything like that? I wouldn't start worrying about a chiropractor for a few days.

A few weeks ago I woke up with a stiff neck which meant I couldn't turn my head to the left, it took about 5 days before it started to feel better.

Thanks for all your input says the message didn't help but has just asked if she can go swimming, so must be a bit better. I'll have to wait till monday now anyway as local ciropractor is not open till then finger crossed it will right it's self.

Didn't go swimming in the end had a quiet day just pottering at home. Her neck seemed much better. But she's gone to bed in a lot of pain again. Luckly she can lie on her back and once she got the right postion she's ok. She now also got the pain spreading to the sholder and she got a headache.

I don't like to sound dramatic, but does she have any of the symptoms of meningitis - i.e. doesn't like bright lights, temperature etc? always worth checking through the symptoms with stiff necks and headaches.

symptoms here

I'm sure it's not, hope I haven't worried you, but it's always worth thinking of these things.

If she has a headache and stiff neck and the light bothers her, then you should take her to A&E to check for meningitis straight away. pita but at least it's free and you won't have to stay awake all night worrying whether she's OK or not.

Get her checked to be safe, I had a stiff neck when I was 8, which turned into a huge neckspasm, due to infected nymph nodes alledgdley and ramdom stuff going off that the hospital wasn't sure about, took 3mths till they were sure the infection was gone, then 6mths of physio to get my neck straight again. My mum says now, she wished she'd quesioned the Dr when we 1st went, and he said, don't worry its mumps, come back in 2 weeks if its not gone, by which time, I'd spasmd to the right side and not eaten for two weeks, bar soup through a straw. Was not a nice time and the physio was excruciating.

Bump because she is still in a lot of pain. Took her to A&E on Sunday two hours later was told she has sprained a muscle in her neck and the best thing to do is exercise it gently, swimming been the best.
So took her swimming yes it did free it up a bit but was worst by bedtime. Looked a bit better Monday morning so gave her some cuprofen and packed her off to school hoping it would loosen up as the day went on. Was called at 11ish to go and pick her up again lots of pain and the headache had started again (A&E told me this was to do with the tension in her neck).
Took her to a Cranial osteopathy he worked on her said she was so tight that he need to see her again to really free the neck that's on Friday. She did pick up but was in pain just more herself.
School again today (no painkiller in the morning) end up picking her up after lunch. Took her swimming again didn't really swimming just moved about in the learner pool seen to be moving the neck more but still in a lot of pain.
Please if anyone can help it really is horrible to see my 7 year old dd in so much pain.

Forgot to say hardly any movement without pain and holding the head to the left and as it get more sore she tilts it more and more. Tried hot bath, hot water bottle and deep heat, plus arinca. Otherwise calpo and cuprofen for the pain.
