periods.......FFS.........WHY????????????????

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 11:56

I know why, but I ask WHY WHY do we have to SUFFER them, why can they not just be all sweetness and light and barely there....just enough to prove you are a woman and not pregnant.....

why do I have a period, bleed for 5 days, stop, and the 2 sodding days later bleed again??

I often bleed for 3, 1 day break, and then bleed again, but that is ok, I am used to that.......

so why change now, and why make me ruin my nice 'non-period' knickers, and why chuck in pain and moods and rantyness too????hmmm, hmmmm, !!??

ok, as you were

27 years I've been having periods. Started at 11, now 42 = 31 less 4ish years for pregnancies and BF. It's just too damn long. And we still pay VAT on the lixury item that is a tampon.

WilliamGray · 04/07/2008 12:08

coil
i ahevnt had a perdio since 2005

lazarou · 04/07/2008 12:10

Is it the mirena coil you have? Perhaps I should have one and I might not need to keep taking iron tablets

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 12:11

I have the mirena coil........it has cured my endo, but I still have periods.....just not heavy anymore!!!

I want no periods, they PROMISED me..

Mooncup mooncup ra ra ra!

They are a miracle.

castille · 04/07/2008 12:13

Oh I agree Psycho, in fact I'm so sick of the whole thing that I'm considering a mirena despite my reservations about adding hormones.

Don't they make you ratty and kill your libido though?

WilliamGray · 04/07/2008 12:14

less hormone than the pill

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 12:15

they lie and i think they actually believe the lies they tell! they promised me no periods too and sometimes mine lasts 10-14 days ffs think yourself lucky its only 5 days and you get a break in between i say I used to get 5 day periods before the coil and I could go bacl to that but then I'd have limited contraceptive and theres no way I want to get pg again! I've only jsut lost the 4 and a half stone i gained last time. Rant rant!

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2008 12:15

my periods were like this recently.all over the shop.annoying.

LoveMyGirls · 04/07/2008 12:16

I'm not that ratty (a bit but no much and only when im due af) not sure about libido though think you would have to have heavy duty stuff to kill mine though ok tmi..i'll shhhhhhhh

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 12:19

weeeeeeeelllllllll

for about 6mths DH said I was 'weird', but I think I was normal!!!

I did suffer headaches more, plus I did also gain weight at the beginning, but then, it was winter and I was drinking more to combat the permanent PMT.

now tho, apart from the sodding period issues (I am never regular either anymore, and can spot twice monthly on top of periods), I am glad I have it as the pain was utterly excrusiating (sp?) before, worse than childbirth (and I am not exaggerating.....I literally was curled up unable to walk).Oh, and I was flooding each time too, so it has cured that!!!

I am just pissed about the 'break' in the middle, and the ruined knickers!!!

I'm taking the pill and metformin for PCOS -I don't know whether it's because I some strong antibiotics a month ago or that I've increased my dose of AD's or just that I'm particularly stressed at the moment but I'm having a period mid cycle complete with pain and bloating and generally feeling yuk!

So I am with you on the WHY?????????????????????

castille · 04/07/2008 12:30

Damn I thought they got rid of everyone's periods.

Don't fancy headaches (which I get plenty of already) or the weight gain either

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/07/2008 12:43

pyschomum

Have you ever been referred to a gynae, many GPs in my experience anyway are not very good at all in this area. In your circumstances I would ask for a referral asap.

Any bleeding between periods should be checked out further to establish the underlying cause.
You should not have to put up with this.

Your other symptoms to me (particularly in terms of pain) are suggestive of endometriosis. Reckon as well no GP has ever mentioned that possibility to you either. Hence my suggestion to get a referral.

Psychomum5 · 04/07/2008 12:52

attila.....I do have endo, hence the coil now, but the gynae signed me off after 6mths as they said I was ok again, but I was not, they just failed to listen.

and now I have the odd periods again, which in fact, I have been having since october, so wondering if maybe I should go back and ask for another referral!!!
