ggglimpopo · 04/07/2008 18:17

He was operated on at lunchtime. Yesterday it was 50/50 as to whether his appendix was enlarged. Today they did another scan and it was v enlarged so they operated - to find a huge abscess on his appendix - mega appendicitis and risk of peritonitis

Have just dashed home for an hour to do the baby and drink cold drinks.

He is on high dose antibiotics and they will be able to say more tomorrow.

Hope speedy recovery for all of your children. Big hug.

Tiggiwinkle · 05/07/2008 09:48

Glad they caught it in time ggg. My DS3 had appendicitis when he was 6; the hospital could not make up their mind whether it was appendicitis and delayed operating until it had burst and he did have peritonitis. He was on IV antibiotics and in hospital for about 5 days, but he made a full recovery. (he is now 19 and 6'1" ). Hope you DS feels better very soon.

Blu · 05/07/2008 12:17

Oh, poor boy - that must have been painful - the abcess, I mean. Thank god they operated.

Hope his recovery is swift and simple - and love to you.

motherinferior · 05/07/2008 12:21

Oh darling, how completely crap life is being, love to you all xxxx

lulumama · 05/07/2008 12:22

goodness me! my head is spinning just reading that. wishing a swift recovery to DS

and that all the GGG family are well, happy and settled

FoghornLeghorn · 05/07/2008 12:31

Oh GGG What an awful time you've been having lately !
Fingers crossed DS1 is on the road to recovery soon

TheMadHouse · 05/07/2008 17:27

ggg - I hope he is feeling better this evening. I bet he will love showing off his scar

ggglimpopo · 05/07/2008 19:27

Am home for the night - dh is staying with him.

He is on iv antibiotics for the week and will be in hospital instead of on a sailing course...

Thank you for all your messages.

he is tearful and uncomfortable but is able to hobble to the loo - dragging dripstand - and thrashed me several times at uno, so is on the mend.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/07/2008 19:33

Oh bless him.

Is he on the IV because he was so close to peritonitis?

I was going to say make sure that you don't run round like a headless chicken looking after everyone, but I guess that would be futile But I'll say it anyway

I hope your ds feels better soon. When he starts grumbling about missing his sailing course you'll know he's on the road to recovery!

God ggg, what a lot you have to deal with...

Glad to hear he's avoided the peritonitis (DH had it when he was about 13; he was bedridden for four or five days and when they let him get up he'd grown so much his mum had to rush and get him new clothes to go home in).

Look after yourself as well as everyone else. Hope the rollercoaster stops rolling and coasts a bit more serenely in the coming months.

Anna8888 · 05/07/2008 21:18

Frizbe · 05/07/2008 21:29

Oh poor mite, my friend was taken into hospital in France with peritonitis when we were on a school trip, and she's recovered very well, was not a nice experience for her at the time though, so glad they caught it before it burst. Hope he's feeling better soon and {{{{Hugs}}}} to you.

ggglimpopo · 06/07/2008 10:04

ggglimpopo · 07/07/2008 10:09

I am home from the hospital for the morning.

I have a choice. I can do the housework/make phonecalls/do a shop, or I can sit and watch my new 24 dvd.

Now wahat to do......

Watching 24 gives you amazing regenerative powers.
(Allegedly)
You owe it to yourself.
Hope DS is better soon.
