Nay. Don't mess with your ears. And don't stick anything in them which is smaller than your elbow.

I worked for a consultant in this area and he always recommended warm olive oil dropped into ear and plugged with cotton wool. This softens the wax. HTH

I think DIY ear syringing is on a par with DIY colonic irrigation, isn't it?

I have reconsidered and am going to the doctors to get it done. can't wait
