Anyone know what this is or why I might have it? I am slightly worried that it seems to be something men get. I am a woman.

Maybe its just a bacterial infection? Do you hold your wee?

I am a bit guilty of this.

Have had a scan (last month) and have been told I need to be referred to a Urologist. I don't get urine infections much and never have any Kidney pain but I have had a pain on and off on mu left side just below (Not underneath) my rib-cage which I had a scan for 8 years ago but nothing was discovered.

I think maybe if your holding your wee, you are maybe irritating the urether, i would drink plenty of water and go as soon as you have the urge.

Bumping this!

I have yet another bout of Cystitis and despite taking a potassium Citrate remedy for the last 2 days it has not cleared up. Actually I am not gettng that 'I need a pee' feeling' at all but I am getting a pain as my bladder empties. Last night I developed a pain in my right side/back which has not gone away.

I am thinking this may all be connected to the ureter valve swelling (left side) they noticed at my scan at the end of June.

Has anyone had this? could it be very small kidney stones ? I am still waiting for my referral to the Urologist. Not once have they taken a urine sample. Should I go back and demand one?

what happened beanieb? Was it a kidney problem resulting from urine not being able to get through properly and backfilling into the kidney or a bladder infection?
The pain you are describing is kidney pain and it is potentially serious. I don't think it is the sort of thing for which you should wait a long time for a referral for because when your kidney is damaged you don't get forever to sort it out.
