Sudden onset vertigo

I had a really horrible and strange experience last night. Around 10.30pm I suddenly started to feel really dizzy. It got to the point where I had to lie flat or the room was spinning and I felt like I was going to be sick. For the next 3 hours I couldn’t even lift my head from the pillow but while lying flat I felt ok. Around 1am I managed to get to the toilet and it had subsided. This morning the room spinning has stopped altogether.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I’ve got the train into work today instead of driving in case it comes back. It was horrible.

Yes, I’ve had similar
Once when I was horrendously busy, running up to up to Christmas, with family members seriously ill. It felt like my body’s way of saying I needed to stop and look after myself

I did get a prescription for Prochlorperazine (Buccastem)
at the time, but it didn’t reoccur for a while

I’ve had it returned last year for a longer period - No real reason pinpointed. I just had to take a couple of days off to let myself recover.

It’s very scary when it happens I’m googling doesn’t help. I would get some anti sickness medicine in though just so you have it if/when it happened again

I did look at the Epley manoeuvre videos. I thought maybe it was to do with my hearing or an ear infection.

Definitely don’t do any sudden movements or get up quickly as you might find it Triggers them

Inner ear trouble but there are many causes. You are best to see a gp. It’s horrible; we tend to take our balance for granted until it goes off.
