Night sweats awfulness

Hi

looking for advice on anything that could help cause I’m losing my mind and just soo tired with it all.

for at least 10 months, probably a bit longer but 10 months is when I definitely remember it from I have been having night sweats.

wake up soaking wet, can feel it dripping down my legs, neck etc. Most of the time it’s just the once that it wakes me up but the last couple of weeks it has been 5, 6 times I get woken up with it and I’m just exhausted.

I’ve been to the GP and all blood tests came back normal.
I don’t think it’s peri but I guess it could be? But no other symptoms.

has anyone done anything that has helped?

OMG, I have the same thing. For the last 3 weeks.
Post post menopausal.

Its horrible, when it gets sorted I am replacing my duvet and pillows

Seeing the GP in the morning

This was one of my first menopausal symptoms. HRT has almost dealt with it - still happens but only rarely. Blood tests are a bit useless for menopause in my experience!

How old are you? The last symptom that sent me over the edge with a long list of peri symptom - brain fog, memory issues, anxiety over nothing, joint pain etc was hot flushes. So whilst having all those symptoms I still had periods and no hot flushes or night sweats until I did.

I don't believe there is a blood test for perimenopause unless they already have some baseline for your normal hormone levels.

Do you have any other peri symptoms?

Squiffy01 · 22/10/2026 18:46

I’m 39.

no other peri symptoms that I can think of.

sorry you are also suffering @OffTheMap hopefully the GP will be helpful please pass on an suggestions I need all the help I can get!

@MumofGreyhound would they start someone on HRT with only one possible symptom do you know?

If you have ruled out any other medical cause then it’s worth asking about HRT. Do you really have no other symptoms? If you google something like “all of the symptoms of menopause” you’ll find a list of about 40 different things.

Sounds like peri to me. I had this + waking up mid sleep with a racing heart. GP prescribed HRT immediately. No tests. I was 44 at the time and already had this for couple of years but sporadically. I hate the night sweats, with slippery thighs and legs, drenched clothes. Hate it.

You are very young for menopause though what you describe ties in with it. It can also be a symptom of something more serious but I see you have had tests. Do you know what they tested for?
Practical tips. Wear layers for bed. A cotton nightie you can whip off and change.
A cotton sheet under the duvet. Two single duvets if sharing a bed so your can be lighter and you can throw it off and just keep the sheet.
