Hi,

My son is being treated for Impatigo thought to have been caught from his eczema. It has still not cleared up and now the doc is unsure what is actually is. I have just realised that about 7 weeks ago I changed my washing powder to the Fairy Non Bio liquid I am now wondering if this is what is causing the rash as it is everywhere but under his nappy. I have picked up some surclean to try but wondered if anyone has tried the Ecoballs. I'm thinking it may be worth a try for his skin but worried they aren't going to clean his clothes that get covered in the usual baby mess. Any advice ladies?

I think impagtigo is simply a more extreme manifestation of eczema. As I am sure you know eczema often flares up and dies down for no obvious reason. I would say that there is a good chance that it has nothing to do with your washing powder. The nappy might simply be surpressing the staph aureus responsible for the impetigo. I do know that the differences between washing powders aren't very great. It isn't impossible that the washing powder is the cause, but it isn't a strong possibility.
