Bleeding after sex

Hi All.
Haven't dated for 8 years since my divorce. Last night had sex for the first with my new partner of 4 months after no sex for 8 years.

After we had finished, I noticed bleeding. The morning it is tiny brown spotting. Trying not to panic today but have contacted my GP. Am 51 and on HRT. Hopefully thinking it's just a one off due to the 8 years of no sex and trying not to panic. Smear test two months ago showed everything was normal and had STI checks when I first met him.

Any thoughts. I'm gutted really as he's really such a great chap and now this.

Could be the first signs of vaginal atrophy. Using a topical pessary or cream would probably resolve it and protect you from bladder issues and uti’s in the future.

Could be a lot of things... I had the same thing happening and reason was a polip in my uterus entrance, thank god it was removed and that stop the problem. Active fibroids can cause that too, after all you're in HRT which is oestrogen and feeds the fibrouds making them larger. HRT is also known for making you bleed a little bit (like giving you small periods that you only notice when having sex.

Ultimately it can be none of the above and it's just your tissue down there has dried a bit and changed so rough sex after 8 years might have caused it. I would book an appointment with your GP and see what's going on. You're most possibly fine and they will give you some hormonal gel to put inside your bits at night to heal the tissue if you're planning to have sex.

Thanks both. Really interesting. Luckily I've got a Dr's appointment tomorrow at 10am. I think it definitely could be vaginal dryness and hopefully nothing to worry about.

Drs appointment was this morning. She thinks it could have been being intimate after 8 years. I had a quick examination and she couldn't see anything wrong but has already referred me to a gynae appointment just go check. I feel so run down with it all. I'm also waiting for an urology appointment as I've got constant UTIs. Double whammy but at least I'm in the system and it's getting sorted.

I had similar and put off going to the doctors for ages out of embarrassment. When I finally went, it was a simple cervical ectropion, gynaecologist applied silver nitrate and it was all fixed in about 30 seconds.
