Does anyone have this already? I had never heard if this til i got a letter saying i had been referred for it.
I heard nothing more til today when i had a text they would call me today, they called, I confirmed all my details and they said my heart monitor would be delivered on Saturday. I still have very little info abd don't really know what it's for. I can only assume it's so i can do my own ECG to save me going to the QE. Can anyone enlighten me?

The QE?
Who sent you the letter?

Prob come from your GP. Sounds like a 24h ECG, have you been to A&E recently? They may have recommended it? I’d ask your GP or call the number on the letter and ask them. There’s no current national screening that requires and ECG

I have not worked in cardiology for decades but it sounds to me like a cardio memo. If it is it is a small device that you hold on your chest and press a button to record a short rhythm strip.

Then you either take it back to the hospital or you can use a phone to send the strip to the hospital.

They are usually given to people who have intermittent symptoms but never get them at the Dr or in the hospital.

Actually, just another thought, this might be something someone is selling. please be careful.

It does sound like a cardio memo. Usually it would require a visit to ECG out patients to be issued with the device and shown how to use it . I’ve also been away from cardiology for a few years so maybe things have changed, but we would never send a a device out to anyone.

I have annual ECG usually because I have Muscular Dystrophy that can affect my heart. The referral came from my cardiologist, the QE is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

So if you know this, why did you start the thread?
Is it because you're wondering if technology has changed in the last year?
If so, you could ring the cardiology secretary and ask them.
