Daytime naps due to ME needing to be longer and struggling

I have ME and I’ve always needed an afternoon nap for the past 3.5 years. Suddenly in the last few months it’s needing to be earlier and earlier and is lasting longer and I feel less refreshed when I wake up? Is this some kind of progression with ME? Does anyone have it and has had similar?

I’ve had tests done to rule out other issues eg thyroid, anaemia etc and that’s all fine. My doctor says not to worry just listen to my body and rest when I need to but I feel frustrated.

can anyone offer advice if you have experienced similar ? What helped ?

Fellow ME sufferer here. I actually am the opposite- hardly sleep at all.

How well are you pacing?

Are you doing proactive rest such as meditation?

Have you had any viral infections or other illnesses? Bad colds have lowered my baseline. Mild colds have had no impact.

I’ve had a few illnesses lately actually not really severe just bad colds. I also had a really bad dental infection and had a wisdom tooth out so perhaps that has contributed

Almost certainly. Please take extra rest, apart from your nap.
