Post meno bleeding and cysts/mass

I’ve just come back from an outpatient appointment because I’ve been bleeding for 10 days and I’m 20 years post menopause.

was really hoping it was nothing and now I’m worried sick

i I had a transvaginal scan which showed multiple cysts on one ovary and a ‘mass’ on the other with a womb lining of 5.4mm

also had bloods taken

ive been referred for an MRI but just wanted others thoughts if you’ve been through this.

i do have the option of going private but I’m not sure it’ll be any quicker in this instance? I checked the gynaecologist private appointment list and can’t see her until end of November and I assume that I’ll have to see her to get the scan?

its shit! I feel wretched and rung out with worry now. I’m a worrier anyway but this has poleaxed me!

anyway, anyone else been in this situation?

Sorry to hear this, no wonder you are concerned. Did they take biopsies during the scan, they can be done by guided ulstrasound. If not, then I reckon you will probably need a hysteroscopy or other investigations where the mass and cysts can be biopsied and analysed.

I am going to mention the C word, but I expect it has crossed your mind. In that case you must be on the two week pathway, so I don't see why it will be end of November before you get any further with this. Any ideas yourself?

I had post meno bleeding myself but I'm not in UK, so had the whole lot done in one go, a transcervical resection where they removed polyps, took biopsies, and removed the uterine lining. Thankfully all was benign.

My gynae said that only 10% of post meno bleeding was in the C word category, and so it proved for me, but I was very worried before I got the results which took six agonising weeks.

There is a Women's Health section/board here, and you might re post there aswell for more information/support.

Best of luck and try to remember the stats and focus on that x

Hi, sorry, I mentioned November as that is the quickest I can get seen privately although I am on the nhs two week pathway so I’ll stay on that route.

they did a biopsy of my uterus while I was there. It’s so annoying, because I could see the notes but all I remember is solid mass on or near one ovary.

im so worried 😢

Can't you get a copy of your notes and the report? The report is usually sent to your GP or whoever referred you for the scan. I get all my reports and discharge notes even for day procedures. Maybe check with GP, if you want to see the notes that is, some people don't want to!

When is your two week appointment?
