Severe stomach pain and neck pain that comes on very suddenly during eating . The pain is only relieved by vomiting, the vomiting just happens or my partner makes himself sick . This happens 2/3 times a week.

That sounds really unpleasant, and the fact it’s happening two or three times a week needs to be taken seriously. I’d encourage your partner to get assessed urgently and not make himself vomit to relieve the pain. Sudden severe stomach pain with neck pain and vomiting can sometimes indicate a serious problem. If this is happening now, the pain is severe, or he has chest pain, difficulty breathing, sweating, faintness or blood in his vomit, please seek emergency medical care immediately rather than waiting for a routine appointment.

Thank you he has been to the doctor and he has a blood test at the end of the month. There is a massive queue for scans where we lives so it could take months to get one .

The neck pain could be down to him retching .

He seems to not have a problem if he eats standing up. If he eats sitting down the stomach pain starts and he says it feels like there is an obstruction in his stomach.

That sounds awful! I mean if it's like an allergy or something to specific foods? Is there any pattern to what foods trigger it?
Is it like a sickness pain? Or actual pain pain, like sharp?
Definitely he needs to see the GP at first.

Hiatus hernia? Ulcer? Glallbladder? Can he have an xray if there's a long wait for scans

Where I live there is an extremely long waiting list for scans . The doctor has arranged for a scan and blood test for the end of the month . As I wasn’t in the room when he spoke to the doctor I don’t know how well he described his symptoms. He only went because I nagged him to go Confused

No food triggers it , it seems to start when he sits down to eat and he says it feels as if there is something in the centre of the top of his stomach , he then gets horrible stomach pain that only vomiting and breaking wind cures it . He finds if he stands up to eat he dosent get this problem.

I would go back and try and get in the room with him and GP, ask for an urgent referral to gastroenterology? Has he lost weight?

Yes he’s lost a stone in weight . I have asked / begged him to push for treatment but it ends in him getting defensive. He tends to trust authority figures and won’t question them .

I’ve consulted Dr Google it could be any of the things and the dreaded C . I’m going to get him to see if he can get a stomach scan in another town as there is a huge backlog where we live

He definitely needs to see a doctor. I don't want to be alarmist but if it's a volvulus that can be extremely serious if left. Has it just started recently?
It sounds like something could be blocking his upper intestine? Can he do a bowel movement?

Thank you. That is potentially a good sign that it isn't a volvulus. I hope it's nothing serious and goes away soon.
