Feel awful no idea why

Back pain across shoulder blades. Particularly sore under left shoulder blade. Sensitive forearms and tender back skin. Throbbing temples and sore eyes. Tender backs of legs. Hivey rash between boobs and on left breast.

Had back pain for a week. Went to A&E and all clear. They gave me codeine. Rash started. Stopped codeine yesterday. Still got pain and rash. Pharmacy said antihistamine and GP if still rash tomorrow.

Quite hard to call in sick when I don't know what is wrong but it is reaching a point where I think I need to sleep all day for a few days if poss. What is this?

Could it be shingles?

If you're not feeling well enough to work that's enough reason to call in sick surely?

If it's one sided could be shingles maybe?

A&E doc said no shingles as not one sided. Rash has got bigger since then.

I feel bad as I was sick 2 weeks ago for 2 days.

Temp is 37.5

Tell work you have suspected shingles and need to see a GP and arrange treatment and rest.

37.6 temp.

I never had chicken pox that I know. My head really fucking hurts. Paracetomol not helping. I will monitor temp and call GP at 8.30.

Have you been on holiday recently? Some of those symptoms I had with Dengue Fever.

No advice but hope you feel better soon.

Assuming you’d know if it was a meningitis rash, have the GP run bloods? Have you started any new medication, vitamins etc recently?

Lyme disease is another one that can trigger a rash along with shingles, any tick bites?

failing that it could be a viral infection, flu does something cause a rash and the headache and temperature.

Back from doc. Its shingles.

I’m sorry that sounds miserable, what’s the treatment? Will you get some break from symptoms now? that first GP was wrong and you had to go back.

Antivirals. Yeah I should have pushed but he wanted to discharge me from A&E. He did give wrong advice to say it was not shingles as he could not know at that stage.

I should have got the rash looked at again sooner.
