Potential kidney disease

I went to the GP last week for what I thought was a medication chat only to be told my kidneys aren't functioning as well as they should.

I have regular blood tests for some medication I take (which I've now stopped) as this can affect liver/kidney function.

Im 57 and have been on medication for high blood pressure since my mid 30's after the birth of DS2. It's kept quite stable with Amlodipine.

So my numbers are:
Gfr - 60
Creatinine 92

Previously my Gfr numbers were
11/4/25 - 74. Creatinine - 76
16/2/24 - 86 69

So it's drastically dropped. My DP only has one kidney and his levels are better than mine.
I was really shocked at this news. I'm 5 years on from breast cancer so having another medical issue thrown at me makes me so annoyed.

So this week I have to monitor my blood pressure and I'm having another blood test to check levels again plus diabetes etc etc.

If anyone has any experience of this I'd love to hear them
thanks

Family member recently diagnosed. He now takes blood pressure medication and a stating as both can help kidney function and circulation. He knows it's forever but would rather that than needing more serious intervention. Has no symptoms or side effects.

That's good to know.

I already eat well, lots of fruit and veg, swim and walk 3-4 times a week. I do have a few gins at the weekend but nothing excessive.

Hopefully it will stay around. 60 (fingers crossed).

I thought damage from blood pressure medications was mostly reversible if you come off the medication? I guess they need to check that it does reverse and there's nothing else going on. I looked it up as I am on a blood pressure medication and also because this happened to someone I know whose bloods returned to normal after stopping the medication.

I was diagnosed almost a year ago with 3b kidney disease. Absolutely no symptoms at all, bit I'm now on a

permanent restricted diet and take blood pressure tablets plus blood and urine tests every three months. I also had type 2 diabetes which has gone after a 4 stone wight loss with 5ml Mountjaro. I must admit it was a hell of a shock at first, but I'm getting more used to it now.

I was on a medication for my eosinophilic asthma called Uniphyllin. I now have a biologic injection for my asthma so no longer need the tablets. This is what they were monitoring.

I was hoping coming off them would help but we shall see on Thursday afternoon my next blood test. There was also a bit of protein in my urine.

It's so annoying. I'm not overweight and lead a healthy lifestyle.
