Threadworm versus thrush ?

Since my kids were small ( I'm going to blame them), occasionally I manage to get what I self- diagnose as threadworms. I've never seen signs in my poop but get intense itching around the anus at night-time. I wash bed linen at 60 degrees, I take ovex, kids have all left home so no need to involve them and husband convinced he has never had it so I don't make any special effort there.

If this is at all relevant, I've got breast cancer, been thru all the chemo, had a lumpectomy last week, no dire pain, all seemed fine. Not on any meds right now. So last night was convinced I had the itching from theadworm. I'm not sleeping well amd so my thinking could be totally off the rails these days. Also had itching on one side of my genitals. Decided that this was thrush. So today, off to chemist for ovex and canesten which I've taken and been applying. But my question now I think, is could the threadworm be causing the itch on the genitals and should I immediately stop using canesten? My privates have been itching during the day whereas I thought the threadworm itching was only a night-time feeling. Can any helpful people let me know what you think it could be?

Also by the way there doesn't seem to be much in teh way of vaginal discharge. Having said that, I'm pretty sure I had thrush during chemo, a few months ago and I didn't get much discharge then. But I think it made peeing abit more painful and I haven't got that today.

Any comments would be great. Many thanks

Could be a few issues here. I wouldn't expect threadworms if you don't have young kids, unless you garden without gloves. Chemo obviously lowers your immune system and also trashes cells, so you may be producing less lubricant than usual, or this may have coincided with menopause symptoms depending on age. To be honest, if the caneston is providing relief I'd use it anyway.

Thanks very much. Good to know you don't say I should stop the canesten. yes the chemo could be giving some lingering problems. I'm 60.

Yes I have recently done some gardening without gloves. Been forgetting about this. Really stupid of me now I think of it.

Oddly when my son was young - from about 5 through to 11 he had a lot of stomach pains that they never got to the bottom of. One scan though came up with the fact he had threadworms. I've just realised I've been having stomach aches over the last few weeks. Wonder if these are connected. Not sure. Anyway thanks for your message :)
