Hi all! I went to the gp a few months ago and they said I have a tonsil stone but it is still there. Has anyone experienced similar? Breath doesn’t stink but how do I get rid of it?

picture attached too!

I have to scoop mine out. Just popping in so I can see the picture when it loads

You need a metal tonsil pick - picture included. Use your bathroom mirror phone as a torch, and gently press around the tonsil. If you have big enough holes in them you can put the pick into the hole and push them out through another hole from behind

If its a really bad one I have had to scrape it out. But most I can clear with amazing oral hygiene including mouthwash 2-3 times a day.

Only if you have holes in your tonsils. People who’ve had repeated tonsillitis often get them. Mine are ripped to shreds and like buckets, I just clean them out regularly, sometimes nothing there, sometimes there are some.

My daughter has them, she poked them and dislodged some. She got a cotton wool bud and used it to push them out by putting the cotton wool bud in the creases in her tonsils. She watched people do it on YouTube. Good luck.

Thank you all for your replies! I went to the gp again today as I suffer from reflux quite badly. They looked at it again and referred me to ent at hospital. Gp still adamant it’s a tonsil stone but he couldn’t dislodge it either!
