Repeat smear

I recently had a routine smear test, results came back positive for hpv 16 and 18 (high risk strains for cervical cancer) but my sample had insufficient cells to check for any cellular changes. My GP recommended a repeat smear in 1 month but when I have researched this I am finding info that advises a wait of at least 3 months between smears is recommended to allow cells to regenerate and if repeated too soon there is a high chance of another indequate sample. Has anyone else had a repeat smear test done within a month and were the samples taken accurate? Thanks in advance.

The lab reject samples taken earlier than 3 months and don’t even test them in our area. I would rather wait than have it rejected, and then have to wait a further 3 months for testing.

Thank you, I had found that too online. I had paid privately for my test so wondered if private labs would process tests regardless of when taken?? Though I’d much rather wait and have a reliable result than rush and get a second inconclusive result.
