Smelly urine started tonight it's like cabbage.

A couple of hours ago I noticed that my urine smells like cabbage. I have a fluttering feeling on my right side where my kidneys are. I have no temperature don't feel ill. I have started to drink water and the smell seems to be getting worse.
Anyone have any idea what this could be.

what have you eaten veg wise?

Only carrots and potatoes in the stew I had for lunch.
Chicken salad for dinner.

Have you eaten asparagus?

No asparagus, cabbage or broccoli.

Could be a UTI. Symptom wise I only had smelly urine and mild pain near kidneys. No burning when weeing, etc. It went on a long while. I finally went to doctors and it was a UTI. Needed antibiotics to clear it. If the smell persists or you have pain I would get checked out.

Typical it's on a Friday night. As long as it doesn't get worse I'll try and see a GP on Monday.

Yeah I second the UTI theory. My OH had a UTI and the only sign was a smell after he had peed. Definitely get it checked out, I think you can actually get that done at the chemist over the weekend (you can at one of the pharmacies near me), so it's worth a google and a call round tomorrow if you get the chance.

Most chemists can give antibiotics for a uti if it does get worse over the weekend.

Do you take any medications or supplements? Are you dehydrated?

I wouldn't muck around with a UTI - see a pharmacist tomorrow.

Take a urine sample with you.

You can buy UTI test sticks in the pharmacy.

It's a UTI. Treat it as if it's that, mine was the same, no other symptoms other than really smelly wee, disgusting in fact ugh!

I got a 7 day course (any less is useless IMO) of Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid). Did the trick. I didn't hang around though, so I'd go to pharmacy today.
