Optimum B12 levels

I recently had a blood test and my B12 was 353 ng/L. Normal apparently.

I was reading about B12 and there is some suggestion that we should all have much higher levels than what is deemed bare minimum in NHS.

anyone know anything about this? I only ask because I have mild hair shedding and am knackered most of the time. Was convinced it would be due to B12 deficiency.

I'd recommend the B12oils RnB protocol (riboflavin & B12). You'll find it if you Google. I agree B12 should be higher. Oral supplements are pretty useless and I'd avoid cyanocobalamin as your body can't really use it properly.

Hair shedding can also beow iron. You want ferritin over 100 and transferrin saturation over 20%. B12 supplements typically increase iron need.

Do you have your active B12 level ?

Thanks for responses. Ferretin was 56. I only have the one B12 result which is above. B12 serum.

Well, I had intolerable iron deficiency symptoms including hair shedding with ferritin of 75. They went away with supplements. I'd recommend the Iron Protocol Facebook group for finding out more about that.

Low vitamin D could also be the cause of hair loss.

Oh they didn’t do vit D this time. It was low last time. Thanks. Will check the link.
