Urgent ENT referral

Has anyone had a weird thudding/fluttering noise in just one ear?

Mine has been happening on and off for around 2 weeks, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and only lasts a few seconds at a time. It is definitely NOT in time with my heartbeat.

I saw my GP today. Both ears/eardrums looked normal, no wax, bleeding or discharge, hearing seems normal, and I have no dizziness or pain. My notes also say no neurological symptoms or red flag symptoms.

GP has referred me to ENT because it’s one-sided and persistent, but the referral is showing as urgent in my NHS app and that has really frightened me.

Since leaving the GP it has actually stopped, apart from one single thud when I swallowed a drink and one when I burped. My ears also crackle when I yawn.

I have health anxiety so of course I’ve completely scared myself Googling. Has anyone had anything similar and what did it turn out to be? 🙈

Thanks ☺️

Hello, I get this intermittently. I've never seen a GP about it. I've had it years

Ah ok. Thanks.
