I suffer with health anxiety anyway but I’m really hungover today been being sick all day & keep getting chest pain (I get this all the time) I go hospital regularly as I think I’m having a heart attack I want to go hospital now just for reassurance but I know it’s ridiculous don’t even know why I’m writting this

Just go to bed. You know why you're feeling like this. Get some sleep and drink less going forwards. Don't waste hospital resources when people who are actually sick need them, it's incredibly selfish.

somanychristmaslights · 27/09/2026 19:01

Stop drinking. It’s that’s simple.

MrsPositivity1 · 27/09/2026 19:06

Do not go to hospital. You aren’t having a heart attack

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/09/2026 19:07

And when you go, what do they say it is? Panic attack? Heartburn?

Thanks! You’ve obviously never had health anxiety before & I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. It ruins my life!! & when I’m ‘wasting’ hospitals time I GENUINELY feel like I’m going to die like literally!!

No they just say I’m ok & don’t tell me what it is or what it could be

But you don't think you're going to die, you know why it's happening and you're going for reassurance!!

Onemoret1me · 27/09/2026 19:11

Do you have any coping strategies that help?
my daughter has health anxiety and doing things like checking her pulse and blood pressure at home reassure her, as does reading about anxiety symptoms as these reinforces to her that the symptoms she feels are all anxiety based.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/09/2026 19:12

OP I stopped drinking after getting hangovers like this although mine was more about what I had done or not done and whether I’d done something terrible and had forgotten

OK. And does that happen every time? And is it the same feeling?

Thanks for tellling me how I feel! And I absolutely think I’m going to die!!!!!!! Every god dam day! It’s unbearable! So when I feel like I’m going to die of a heart attack stroke brain tumor etc yes I need reassurance to tell me ok. I KNOW it’s wrong what I’m doing but I can not help it until you’ve had health anxiety you’ll literally never know like I said it ruins my life!!

Thank you. I used to but I got rid of them as it made me worse and obsessed by over checking & if something was slightly off I would go into a panic. I used to be a lot worse ALOT worse! & I went to therapy which massively helped me but the last couple of months it’s come back & im not sure why. Yes I read up on lots of stuff for anxiety & do meditation etc

Then take care of your actual health and stop drinking.

Rationally, you know you’re not going to die when you get this anxiety (else you’d be dead!). Try and focus on that. Breathe and be gentle on yourself.

Also - the sugar drop (from the booze leaving your system) creates feelings of anxiety. Have a cup of tea, add sugar. Go to bed.

So it's different every time but you always think it's a heart attack. And it never is. Can you focus on something outside your body? Or do you have a happy place you can imagine. Mine is having my feet in the little waves on brighton beach. And brrathe through it.

Bananacrepewithnuts · 27/09/2026 20:10

You have to stop drinking it doesn't agree with you.
Do yourself and the NHS a favour.

Just wanted to send you a little hand hold and say here are two great podcasts that I listen to when I'm feeling anxious. It's such a horrible feeling but it will pass and you'll get through this. Also, fresh air, camomile tea, exercise if you can.

From what you’re posting you know full well this is a mental health illness and you are not going to die. Are you medicated for your health anxiety /hypchondria?

Iliketulips · 28/09/2026 12:36

Putting aside any other implications, if you're feeling ill late afternoon, I think a drink problem should be your first concern.

This comes from someone who enjoys a drink, but still capable of an active exercise class next morning, or if out for lunch will have wine, but can still totally function late afternoon.

Agatha1989 · 28/09/2026 15:04

I think you should stop drinking because it’s not helping your anxiety at all. Start looking after your physical health as well as your mental health.
