Bicep Pain

Hi , a few years ago my shoulder became very painful and I couldn’t put my arm behind my back atall , I thought carrying a heavy Hoover up snd down stairs caused it over time so I bought a second Hoover . It did get better over time but at the beginning of June this year the pain came back for no reason , I was shopping and reached out for something as a horrendous electrical pain shot down my arm to my hand it literally took my breath away for a few seconds , I have seen a physio about a month ago she gave me exercises to do but they don’t really help I’m seeing her again next week she did say i might need a scan .

Tbh the electrical pain has cleared but I still get awful pain in my bicep if I stretch or make a sudden movement it could be something as simple as shaking out my duvet cover .I don’t have any shoulder pain but can’t put my arm behind my back and I’m worried

Has anyone had a diagnosis of this type of pain
any advice please ?

I had this same issue of not being able to put my arm behind my back. Had cortisone injections and physio and nothing helped. Eventually went to a new physio who got me to do a whole lot of tests that lead him to believe the problem was actually coming from my neck. I thought that was nonsense, but did the exercises he gave me and lo and behold the problem resolved, albeit slowly over a number of months.

Apparently there are so many things that can cause that pain and they don’t all show up on scans. Keep pursuing answers and be sure to tell the physio if something isn’t working. They’re often operating off theories about what’s wrong rather than firm knowledge.

That sounds really painful, especially with the sudden electric shock feeling. It’s good you’re seeing the physio again, and I’d definitely mention that you still can’t put your arm behind your back and ask whether further assessment or a scan would be appropriate.
