Anyone on here been diagnosed with spinal stenosis? I was referred to the trauma and orthopaedic clinic because of severe osteoarthritis in my hip. The consultant I saw back in May suspected that there was also an issue with my back and referred me for an MRI scan, which I had in June. It showed that I had spinal stenosis. I had suspected that there was something going on with my spine/back as well as my hip,due to the pain I was getting,i.e. not just the groin and thigh pain, but also pain in my buttock, pelvis and lower back.
I had another appointment with the orthopaedic consultant this Monday just gone and he has put me on the waiting list for a hip replacement operation. But he has also referred me to see a specialist about the stenosis. From what I can understand,it's not imperative that I get the stenosis treated before I have a hip replacement, also that the stenosis could be aggravated by my hip issues,in that it's affecting the way I walk, and that a hip replacement may well help relieve the pain from the stenosis.
Has anyone on here had osteoarthritis of the hip and spinal stenosis? Did you find that a hip replacement operation helped the pain from the stenosis? And what,if any, treatment did you receive for the stenosis?
