Advice please - vomiting 8 month old

First time mum here and also very emetephobic so doing my very best but slightly freaking out!

Baby is 8 months old in a couple of days. Went down to bed tonight as normal, woke up at 12:30am projectile vomiting all over herself and her cot. Brought her into our bed and she seemed fine, all smiley. Then vomited again and was going bright red choking on it, retching really loudly and then projectile again. She's now fell asleep on our bed.

About 30 mins later I've started with an upset tummy. She has had some wind but no diarrhoea so far. We didn't eat the same meals yesterday, so I'm thinking a bug not food poisoning. Mums, please can you give me your advice...

  1. What do i need to watch out for with her? She has no fever/rash etc. and I plan to give her bottles as normal tomorrow.
  1. How do you best contain baby vomit?! I've just been catching it in a towel but not very successfully, and I have a phobia of sick so I'm slightly traumatised at this point! Any tips on catching it and reducing transmission to my husband would be much appreciated.
  1. Anyone ever caught the same bug as their kids but without the vomiting/not as bad? I'm terrified I'll be too sick to care for her when she needs me, which would break my heart.

Thank you so much for any advice xxx

Not really much more to advise you than you’re doing sadly @TigerLily38
Keep fluids going into her - if she’s bringing up every bottle offer water or water her milk down slightly - it unfortunately does sound like a nasty bug and the most important thing is to not let her get dehydrated x
Same with yourself, tiny sips of water/suck ice cubes if you do get the sickness, sadly i don’t your husband will be able to swerve this by now no matter what you do x
hopefully it’ll only be a 12/24 hr thing but good luck xxx

Offer little and often; that stays down better than full bottles.

I have emetophobia so I get it - I have never thrown up after my children have had sickness bugs. I’ve felt ill a couple of times but not actually vomited.

I think a towel is your best bet for catching it - they obviously can’t warn you or aim so just lay a large towel under her if she’s sleeping in with you. With any luck, her vomiting will end up being fairly short lived.
