OK, I’m really fed up now

I’m posted a few times in here about my awful gastrointestinal issues.

Now I have a new symptom which is grim - sulphur/eggy burps. Must’ve had it for possibly 6 weeks? Def getting worse though.
Tend to start late afternoon but can be later in evening too. The other day was about 8pm and next day was 3pm, today about 5pm (am keeping a diary).

Seem to get worse and by bedtime it’s just grim, but as soon as I lie down they seem to abate.
I did an e-consult but my GP just messaged back to say she’d contact the gastroenterology dept to chase up my SIBO test.

I’ve just come to bed as I needed to just lie more flat.

i know it’s not a red flag symptom but it’s really gross and makes me feel yucky / I can feel ‘the burn’ from the sulphur too.

Anyone relate or can advise? I already use gaviscon advance/antscids.

I find Pepto Bismol good for sulphur burps. I have several gastro issues and I get sulphur burps now and again, what's awful about them is the embarrassment of the smell which seems to linger in the air for ages. Pepto Bismol relieves them when taken and generally clears mine with a few doses.

Thanks. I have got some but Iast time I took it I sure for about two days. And you’re not supposed to take it for more than 3 days in a row?

It's always cleared mine within that timeframe; I would give it a try unless your GP has said not to.

Have you been tested for giardia?

What @TheSpottedZebra said

I saw a gastroenterologist years ago - was having problems after having lived in a country where the water and hygiene wasn't good.

He told me that Giardia isn't always picked up in tests as it appears intermittently in stool samples.

Getting treated for it did help me, even with negative tests

I will give it a go tomorrow for a couple of days, thanks!

I don’t think so. What type of test is that? I seem to have been tested for most things!!

I’ve never lived anywhere like that or travelled extensively since my 20s. I once had montezumas revenge in Mexico but that was 30 years ago!

Probably not that then!
