I discovered on Sunday that I have a UTI. Now it is years since ive had one of these I think the last time was just after I gave birth to my oldest (who is 21!) I didnt have the usual symptoms like burning when going to the loo, but I do have the feeling like I cant hold it when I do have to go and had a pain in my right side so painful I thought it was appendicitis but it turns out to be a UTI. On Macradantin antibiotics for 4 days and this is day 4. But ive actually felt worse since taking the antibiotics. And I am sweating profusely at night and if I do anything like walking around. But have no temperature. I feel breathless as well. I have an appointment tomorrow with my own GP. But the sweating is really getting to me I feel damp all the time. Is this the infection. Anyone else feel like this with a UTI??? Im 48 and most probably peri menopausal.

It sounds like the antibiotics haven’t worked and you need different ones urgently. The sweating can be a sign of infection. I would ring 111 now and try and get to see someone today.

Fever means infection, so It sounds like the bacteria is resistant to nitrofurantoin - did they send your sample off for cultures? If so call the doctor and see what the results, you may need a different antibiotic as it would have gone by now.
can you take another urine sample to GP today?

I had a horrible UTI in August. Took 2 lots of anti biotics to get shot if it and even then I’d say it took a while after that to feel back to ‘normal’. I would definitely contact your GP and get them to prescribe something different. Mine were Nurofuritain (didn’t work) and then Fosfomycin (which did). And they can also send away a sample after that (the process didn’t actually work for me but it should have done in theory!). Do hope you feel better soon. They are so debilitating…

I ended up in A&E recently with this and close to sepsis as my whole bladder was infected and it was nearly at kidneys. You need a stronger antibiotic once it’s travelled, mine was called co- amoxiclav and it sorted me right out. I felt more rotten than you describe and couldn’t walk properly and was constantly hot but it could easily progress quickly, get checked

Thanks everyone, got a cancellation appointment earlier with GP so has prescribed Keflex to see how that works. She tested my sample again and the infection seems to be still there, she is sending this sample of for cultures. She thinks the sweating is from the infection. I have truly not felt this unwell in a long time. If no improvement by Monday im to go back. But to be honest if I dont feel any better by friday ill be back onto them. Shes referred me for an ultrasound too, for kidney stones
