Any colonoscopy company around? Prep starts on the 10th September 🤮

So I have some pretty awful random and painful symptoms that have flared for 5 weeks, and finally got an appointment for a colonoscopy and a throat one at the same time.

Ive just scared myself silly about the procedure and prep is what’s worrying me the most, I have a tiny home and no en-suite and I’m thinking I may have to set up a bed on the bathroom floor.

any tips, anyone having the same procedure at the same dates? I’m normally ok I’ve had generals and 2 surgery’s but for some reason this is worrying me way more.

Also is it true I’ll be fine in a day? I have a super important meeting on the Monday and this procedure is on the Friday morning.

Thanks and any tips advice or solidarity appreciated.

I've got both on Sat 12th.

Good luck with prep today the advice on here was great, I will just add make sure the bathroom you choose has a window, nobody warned me about the absolute revolving stench!

I mean I expected it to be unpleasant but no god that’s bad. I locked myself away in a room that’s next to the bathroom and shut the doors!

Have you had the procedure @rivalsbinge? How did it go? How are you feeling now? I'm hoping you're done, happy and eating the most delicious meal!

I'm just in the bath, trying to relax. I've made up the laxative and it's in the fridge waiting for 7pm.

Not sure if I'm more nervous about the 💩 or the 📸👅 and 💩🍑 tomorrow.

@HeathisWealththe prep was worse than the scope, I had top and bottom and that was so calm and lovely, if you can even describe it like that, the sedation kicked in I felt super calm and was home a few hours later after my toast. I’m out in the garden now enjoying the sun shine and other than a very rumbly gurgling stomach I feel ok.

The prep for me wasn’t the taste it was the explosion that happened after the first dose I went from 1pm almost as soon as I took the prep until 10pm still in the bathroom, and then slept on and off with a few visits overnight, so was exhausted, and thirsty when I got to hospital.

Thank you!! It was far less scary than in my head, the nurses were so lovely.

So glad you are ok and enjoying being on the other side. I've opted for sedation. Do they wait until you're fully with it before the debrief? Do they give you the option for the person who has gone with you to hear it, too ?

@HeathisWealthi was alone my DH dropped me off but the consultant said everything looked heathy, he wanted to review some footage of the upper area and I have a consultation with him in a week or two, so didn’t really have much to take in. I was also alert and wide awake within about 20 minutes of the sedation, I had fentanyl which left my body pretty fast.

@HeathisWealth how is prep going?

It's going!

TBH not too bad, compared to what I was expecting/building myself up for. Took #1 at 19.30. Woke needing to go at 0030 and again about an hour later.

Just to taken #2 and been immediately.

Glad it went ok and all looks healthy. That's got to be reassuring. Thanks for all the insights.
