Sore tongue, burning dry feeling and tight throat, could it be hand, foot and mouth?

Wondering if anyone has had this before.. my tongue is so sore, feels like I have burned it (even though I haven’t), feels dry and like there are sores down the sides. It’s also a bit white. My throat also feels a bit tight and all these symptoms are worse when I’m eating. I have 2 small children, 1 who is a bit off solid food and had a sickness bug and one who also had a sore tongue and lost voice a bit a couple of week ago. I was wondering if it could be hand foot and mouth but no symptoms on hands or around lips. Any other ideas? It’s making me feel miserable

Do you suffer with anxiety? Reason I ask is because since I started suffering with anxiety I unknowingly clench my jaw and the only reason I noticed was because my tongue was burning and the sides are sore because im clenching jaw and its causing it to press on my teeth. I have horrible tastes in my mouth on and off and dry mouth at times.

I don’t think you have hand, foot and mouth. When I had that I felt as if I had the flu and my mouth was full of ulcers.

Could it be strep throat?

Oral thrush maybe if your run down? Hand foot and mouth would give you more sores around the mouth and probably something on the hands or feet?

Sounds more like thrush. Have you been taking antibiotics recently?
