Are the notes of appointments you see on the nhs app actual full notes ?

And there’s not some secret ones for the doctors?

I had a pharmacist appointment today, she couldn’t help (wrong clinician, only one offered) so made notes for the GP.

When this has happened before the GP mentioned something that happened over 30 years ago to me, those notes are not in the app though others are uploaded for that time. It was about a SA that happened to me so was horribly upsetting and frankly I’d really like it never mentioned again. It also couldn’t have been less relevant to the appointment. They literally asked me ‘did the guy who assaulted you more than 30 years ago ever get caught’.

and it was said very casually. Was very uncomfortable, and I was there about a set of tests to rule out cancer.

They don’t have secret notes as such, not for actual problems and conditions. Your SA though would likely be recorded as past significant problems, so they have a brief summary of illness/events.

Notes can be added that are not visible to the patient, but they have to be added as a separate note. What you see in your notes is the full recorded consultation, but there could be a separate bit you can’t see, such as if a patient was aggressive or to add something that may cause upset/damage their MH if the patient were to see it.

That was a totally inappropriate comment, I’d be furious & upset, especially when it isn’t relevant!
