Anyone else had something similar? I've had this a few times and it is really uncomfortable for up to a week especially as I cycle a few times a week. Then it just disappears again for a while. Before it has been on the left side and the last time was October last year. Has returned now on the right side, but it's on its way out again (as in, not uncomfortable sitting or cycling any more but I can still feel it if I press the area). Have googled extensively as when it first happened i was quite worried about it, but couldn't find anything to suggest it is something to worry about. It does seem to appear when I'm stressed or unwell.

Is it a lymph node that’s inflamed? Would make sense it occurs when unwell if it is

Someone’ll be along soon to query vagina (however just ignore them, I know where you mean). Is it an ingrown hair?

RosieHosie · 14/08/2026 13:22

I wondered that, but info i found suggested they are more on the front of the body below the stomach. Mine is right underneath

I don't know, it feels a bit big for that (about large pea size).
Glad you knew what I meant. Struggled with how to word it and still got it wrong 😅

Pop yourself to the GP - my late mum kept getting this and it was removed in the end . It was benign but uncomfortable. I’m trying to remember the name of it .. will edit if it comes to me

mamakoukla · 14/08/2026 13:53

Bartholin’s cyst?

edit - if in doubt, please go see the Dr.

This would be my suggestion.

Please see the Nurse Practitioner at your GP surgery

Saddle sore? What shorts do you cycle in?

Mixymaxymoxy · 14/08/2026 14:01

I cycle several times a week and tend to get inflamed spots down there every so often. They either come to a head and pop in the shower, or they go away. I always assumed they are ingrown hairs 🤷‍♀️.

However, a colleagues wife nearly died due to an untreated infection in the same area, which probably started as an ingrown hair that became infected. She had young kids, really busy and rarely sat down, so didn’t really realise how big it had got or that she was starting to feel ill - then she rapidly developed septicaemia and ended up in intensive care. They had to remove an area of tissue the size of an avocado to clear the infection, as just antibiotics was not enough.

So get it checked if it keeps getting bigger!

Hidrentata suppatitiva starts like this

WinterAconite · 14/08/2026 14:05

I think it can be caused by rubbing

I just wear my normal clothes to cycle to work a couple of times a week, but it's only 2 miles each way. I do a longer cycle at the weekend (20-30k) and wear padded cycle leggings with padded knickers underneath.

Think i will do an econsult for the doctors. I haven't before, as it kept going away and I would have nothing to show them!

As PP has said, it could be friction from cycling. It may be worth experimenting with what you are wearing and trying some chamois cream for longer rides. You should only be wearing one pad for long rides, two pads is excessive and could be causing sweat to accumulate.

Bartholin’s cyst? I had one that I had to have surgery for (consultant was very excited at the size)

it’s filling up again and I know I’m going to end up back in surgery again

ScaryM0nster · 14/08/2026 15:18

As another option, most sexual health clinics do walk in still and aren’t just for clap so could look up the info and pop in next time it appears

Pistachiocake · 14/08/2026 15:40

I had one years ago that was a cyst. Never bothered me again, but please see a doctor to get it checked, as everyone is different and even if people on here are qualified, no one can say for sure online.

localnotail · 14/08/2026 16:56

Surely needs a gp check up and not a post on MN?

CrowsInMyGarden · 15/08/2026 11:00

I would say an enlarged lymph node. But go see your GP
