Severe hayfever and sore eyes, should I consider the hayfever jab?

Please can anyone help.
I suffer very bad hayfever . I take the strongest tablets I can get over the counter. I’m reluctant to take the jab because side effects could be worse later in life. I struggle so bad with my eyes. I had an eye test and basically have been told my eyes are so bad allergy wise, using anti allergy drops has dried them out. They gave me some dry eye drops which I am taking religiously, it’s a tiny bit better. Still taking the anti allergy drops as well as antibiotic drops in case rubbing my eyes has caused an infection. My right eye feels the worst, but the optician said the left one is actually worse because it can’t even produce tears it’s that bad ! Right eye is so sore , always leaking and I feel like an idiot, I’ve tried bathing it in warm water, salt water and it doesn’t help. Do I just get the jab? Will it help? It’s been going on for months !
appreciate any advice if anyone’s had something similar . I’m so miserable

Brittle bones , apparently. My Nan suffers anyway with that so I worry could I make it worse later in life. I don’t know anyone who has had the jab so can’t comment as to if it works! Interestingly , I never suffered with hayfever when pregnant. It’s the worst it has ever been

Are you talking about the canelog jab? The only side effect I know of for that is sudden death, but it is very rare.

I get hay-fever badly, I have found that rotating types of tablet makes a difference, and buying them from a proper pharmacy rather than Boots makes a difference.

Have you been to see gp. A number of years ago I went, listed everything I had tried, the doctor looked though a large book and said that all the ones I had tried have same core ingredient so switched me to something else.

Get some local honey and fexofenidine on prescription. The gp can give you a higher dose than otc I think. Not worth the side effects of the jab, I think the NHS discontinued it as its side effect profile was too large.

DH suffered like you. He had a jab last year, and it was a complete game changer. I mean, he was actually able to
go to work (outside civil engineering related role). He had it privately at a local pharmacy. It lasted about 2 months. He had it again this year and timed it so that the two months took him to the end of July, which is when he is usually feeling better.

His dad used to get Kenalog jabs, but stopped at 60 due to concerns about leaching calcium from his bones & brittle bones.

I believe its actually not recommended anymore due to risks and side effects! So places offering it aren't really doing the right thing. See your gp for stronger antihistamines

Similar experience here - I spoke to a pharmacist who recommended mometasone nasal spray alongside my antihistamines. It's been an absolute game changer for me.

Prescription only but the pharmacist did it for me I see the common ailments scheme.
