Scared about references for mole

Hi everyone
I had a dermatology appointment last week for a mole that has got bigger and started itching etc.
I now have an urgent follow up surgical procedure after the photo assessment.

Has anyone had this and been ok? The photographer said 60 percent will have no follow up, and the 40 percent will usually be non cancerous.

Well, I know my body and this thing looks awful and has got more itchy and bigger.

I am prepared for the worst.

Anyone know what to expect from the next appointment please. It says biopsy and/or removal. So scared. TIA

There are lots of innocent yet annoying types of lesions it can be. Do you mind me asking your age and the colour of the lesion?

Hi i am 50s and its on the thigh and looks brown at the moment. In the close up photo there were black specks in it. But it has got bigger itchy and raised. I have moles on my back that are seboherric kerratosis, but this just feels different to those, I will say it's what they would call an ugly duckling mole. I am prepared for the worst though. Just want to know now.

I was wondering if yours could be seborrheic keratosis (S.K.) - they can have black or white specks on them, be raised up and be intensely itchy. I initially thought mine was S.K. so I read a lot about them.

When is your appointment?

I've had two referrals for dodgy lesions this year.
One was BCC and the other was chondrodermatitis.
Both removed and no further treatment.
Once I had been seen the removal was done within a week (I rang up to chase after two days).

It feels like SK from the sensation I have had before from one on my back. But I didn't know if I would be recalled for that.
Sorry if this is TMI but a scab came off it yesterday and it does itch a lot. And it has grown a bit.
Could I ask you both what your moles looked like? I could send a pic of mine if I figure it out

My lesion was dome-shaped, smooth but intensely itchy - it just appeared and grew. It looked like multiple lesion types to the eye. It appeared around the same time as a tragic event and I had other health issues that also appeared. My Doctor said this can sometimes happen following trauma but who knows! I have been back to Dermatology afterwards to get other existing ones checked (I wouldn't have done so if I hadn't have had this one removed). I think that's a positive thing though.

Have you been mapping it's growth? How many 'mm' is it?

Its definitely got bigger and more itchy. I would say its about 8mms
Mine has also appeared around a very traumatic event. Its also dome shaped.

Do you mind me asking where it's situated? Mine was on my neck. It was 8mm when it was removed. If they offer a pinch biopsy or removal - I would certainly go for removal.

I got it removed today. I think he took the whole thing off as far as I could understand. Before he removed it he said it looked like it had settled down since the last photos (which it has, no more itching or anything)
He put a lens right over it and said he can't see signs of cancer but that was because it was a bit crusted over. He then mentioned it could be pre cancerous, I asked if it could be melanoma and he said 'lets wait and see' When I mentioned that it used to be flat he looked a bit more concerned.
Then when he came in to remove it he called it something else which is benign dermofirboma or something. But I googled it and it really doesnt look like it.
So now is a waiting game really.
The woman who went in before me got told she had melanoma as her heard her talking to her son. It's on my thigh at the front. I sometimes wish I didn't go to doctors at all but everyone kept telling me to go and wouldn't leave me alone until I did. Thank you for your reply and glad you had a good result.

Mine used to itch me crazy at times then it would be ok for a week or so. My seatbelt just happened to hit at that point so I think it was constantly being aggravated. Yours sounds quite like how mine was.
I'm so thankful to the NHS for being so thorough.

In a way, it's good thing to have happened and for me personally, I'm not as concerned as I was in case I need to get another checked. I was told lots of people get skin lesions as they age - some a few, some dozens. The surgeon told me that these things are often hereditary. My Dad had lots and my Mum has none. 🤷

You have to tell yourself that the dr who removed the mole is doing this kind of thing day in day out. They know what they’re doing. He is more qualified than all of us. If he believed it was a benign mole, then trust that over some comparable images on google. Be kind to yourself while you wait for the results. It sounds like you have had an annoying mole removed and will be absolutely fine. Let us know the good news once you hear
