Any tips to ease bad toothache pain?

Suddenly started with really bad toothache last night. It's a zinging nerve pain, feeling like a 6/10 and is driving me bonkers. Ibuprofen hasnn't really helped. I've managed to get an appointment tomorrow lunchtime so I need to last until then. Any tips?
Couldn't get an earlier appointment, rang my dentist and others in the area and nothing. NHS dentistry is on its knees 😩

Have you tried oil of cloves which I expect should be available in any chemist. I used it as a child - its a temporary fix you just rub it on the tooth but it did work in the short term.

Nurofen Plus, over the counter.

The strongest opiate you can get otc which is usually nurofen plus or solpedien max or just 12mg cocodamol.
Also clove oil does numb the area. Corsodyl gel might help.
But you really need a dentist urgently.

So I swear by Gengigel. You can get it at Boots or via Amazon. They do gel, toothpaste, mouthwash and even toothpaste. It's expensive but it's helped me in the past.
Good luck as tooth pain can be the worst.

You will probably get antibiotics when you visit dentist.

Alternate between hot and cold on your face to relieve the pain

Toothache is indirectly responsible for lots of accidental overdoses because the pain is maddening and you believe that it MUST have been four hours since you took paracetamol when it's only been 2 because you can't believe you've not had more relief.

oraljel has really helped me when I’ve had toothache in the past. it’s available in supermarkets as well as chemists, so you might be able to get some tonight. tastes weird, but numbs everything down a bit

Oil of cloves does help. Other than that keep up the painkillers. I resorted to a large brandy last time I had it, was in agony!

Heat isn’t recommended for toothache so I would stick to a cold compress

Whiskey ..if you have a drop . Its a known help. Just tap a little drop on the affected area.

Had appointment today. I do have an infection and was given antibiotics. Hopefully they willl kick in soon. I'm glad I didn't listen to DH who said I should wait til Friday for NHS appointment!

If the pain gets worse 111 have out of hours dental numbers to ring for advise or appointments if required.
