Laxido help

I've been given laxido for constipation. I've been on 2 sachets a day for 9 days and although I've been a bit it just seems to be thin bits and quite mushy.

I saw the doctor again last week and he said my stomach is very distended and needs investigation. I've got bloods in a couple of weeks and a pelvic ultrasound as I've had sharp pain near my appendix but need to rule out ovarian cysts.

However I'm really concerned that I just cannot poo properly. He changed laxido to movicol but aren't they the same thing?

I'm just so uncomfortable 😣 surely it should have worked by now!

The max dose of either is 8 sachets on one day and I am surprised he didn’t suggest that along with loads of water / I am not a doctor though!

and gentle tummy massage - to be truthful if it is a poo blockage you would probably feel it - lower left side is common

2 a day won't clear you out. You need to go up to 8 sachets a day until your pooing rusty water and then go back down. Go up 2 sachets every 2 days until you hit 8.

Google The Poo Nurses and watch the video right to the end. It is aimed at parents but it describes the correct way to use movicol to disimpact the colon. It takes a while but it works.

Laxido and movicol are just different brands of the same thing..

Yes this tells me that the doctor hasn't really got experience of disimpaction, if that is what it is. Of course it might not be and op needs to ask that question. Hopefully the ultrasound will be helpful. Has this been a sudden or gradual change op?

Well I've been referred to the 2 week wait cancer investigation as my stool sample came back as positive for blood.
