Flu Recovery Tips

Any tips please! Had a combination of the flu and viral tonsillitis as diagnosed by the GP, this week. I didn’t have antibiotics which is fine as I don’t believe in over use of them for viral illnesses.

Anyone have any tips to recover? Day 6 and it has absolutely floored me. I was in bed from Tuesday night (I never got out of it Wednesday morning!) to yesterday at about 4pm. How do I get myself back on my feet? I feel absolutely wiped out and exhausted, wandering when I might have some semblance of energy back.

Sorry you have been in the same position, I thought I would be the only person who had “winter” illnesses during the summer. Feel better soon! X

Thank you - you too!

I had it on the first week of summer holz and then again this week! Completely wiped out. Tonsils inflamed and voice gone/still sounding heavy.

It’s awful.

My son has been very poorly with the same and now developed a bacterial ear infection.
My plan is to wait a few weeks until he’s gut settles down and then use Symprove to try and build his gut flora back.
I think the main thing is to get lots of rest and stay as hydrated as you can. Don’t skimp on paracetamol. It’s been absolutely horrible.
At one point, his temperature was 40 and his blood pressure was below 100.

Rest rest rest. I’ve had proper flu a few times and it can take weeks before you are completely back to yourself. There aren’t any shortcuts but rest, sleep, nutrition, fresh air, vitamin C will help.

Thank you both
@Panic71 sorry to hear about your son, there is clearly some nasty viruses going round even in the summer. @Specialagentblond thank you, lots of rest it is then, I feel like a lame horse tbh and currently still off work today after having two days off last week - the most I’ve had off sick in years.
