Best earplugs for sleeping through noisy neighbours in a maisonette

Hello, I live in a maisonette(upstairs/ downstairs but its a flat) and sleep downstairs, the kids sleep upstairs where it is a bit quieter.

I always hear the downstairs neighbours all late at night talking (its a private multiple occupancy unfortunately)

We own and so moving is not on the cards anytime soon, if ever, money wise, and the fact its so hard to move when money is an issue.

I need good sleeping ear plug recommendations please. I can not stand having to hear their loud male voices booming 1/2am and beyond and not talking to them as have tried with previous neighbours and it made things worse.

That situation sounds crappy, sorry. I have some experience of similar and Mack's silicon earplugs are the best I've tried. I think the mouldable silicon type are better than the foam ones for blocking out sound and you don't end up with a bit sticking out of your ear which I always found annoying when lying on my side. It probably took me at least a week to get used to wearing them, but once I was used to them it was so comforting knowing I could just put them in and not worry about noise. Good luck!

Why don't you try white noise? There are free apps to try and if you find it helps then you can buy a small machine. Lots of choice on Amazon. We have one because our neighbourhood is so quiet so any slight noise wakes us up.

Think I’ve tried anything and nothing seems particularly better than the others. I’ve considered going down the custom made route.

I use Beary Quiet and think they’re great.

Also newer iOS versions have built in ‘background sounds’ with white/brown noise you can play over the speaker

I like silicone ones

Boots own wax earplugs are great. I use them all the time as have a nocturnal teen and cat. Literally can't hear a thing with them in.

If I need to sleep anywhere noisy I use wax or silicone ear plugs and play pink noise quite loudly on my phone/speaker. You can find tracks that do the same noise for 12 hours solid.

Superdrug silicon ear plugs - really good and mould to your ear so not hard for sleeping in.

Bioears silicon earplugs work for me.

Soundcore sleepbuds are good - you can play their white noise tracks all night or you can have your own music/ podcast etc via Bluetooth. It covers up dh’s snoring!

I use the original loops. The sleep ones didn't feel any more comfortable.

We live on a main road and recently had lots of HGVs driving through at night and these have been brilliant.

But I also find if I sleep with a fan on, it helps, so I suppose white noise.

I use these, too. Take them on every holiday with me! They block out enough background noise that nothing wakes me.
They also came in handy when I lived in a flat and the downstairs neighbour had three young children. I never got woken up.

I put one earbud in and listen to Lights Out Library. Weirdly effective, I can’t stay awake.
