Hi all, my daughter is showing signs of Encopresis, does anyone have any knowledge of Encopresis. She’s ten and whenever we go on holiday or stay away this is an issue for her.

Potentially she's becoming constipated whilst away due to a change in diet. But it might indicate that she's in general slightly constipated at home and things just get worse when away. Or it could be that she doesn't like using toilets other than at home and is trying to hold everything in for a week. So you're going to have to talk to her, and potentially track her bowel movements to get a clearer picture of what is going on. Then you can contact your GP to discuss an appropriate solution (which would probably be movicol if she's constipated all the time, we add in picosulfate whilst on holiday for my daughter as there does tend to be less fruit and veg etc on holiday). Increasing fluids will also help - especially in hot weather dehydration can contribute to constipation.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, we’ve been there. There’s an excellent Facebook group called Movicol Mummies, I suggest you join and ask for advice there. From experience, you need to get on top of this sooner rather than later.

Thank you this is great I will give it a go. I think your right I think it is the anxiety of different toilets.
