Vaginal bleeding after Colonoscopy

I had a colonoscopy today with a couple of small polyps were removed, I was advised that there may be a small amount of blood from my back passage however I’m bleeding vaginally. More than spotting but not a large amount, I have passed a couple of small clots and am experiencing some period like cramping, Its definitely not my period, I’m not due on for another two weeks.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I did have a colonoscopy a couple of years ago during which several polyps were removed and didn’t experience any bleeding at all.

I've experienced this too, I'd advise that you contact the number they gave you at the colonoscopy to report any problems, if they provided one. They might just recommend you see your GP, which is what I did. I was told that vaginal bleeding shouldn't be expected after a colonoscopy and I was given a gynaecology check. There wasn't anything seriously wrong in that respect although it did show reveal some problems that could explain the bleeding. Its best that you get some advice/checks suitable for your own circumstances, its probably nothing to worry about, but best to get checked with any abnormal vaginal bleeding, and if you're bleeding heavily, don't wait until monday.

Thanks for replying and for the reassurance, I wasn’t sure if I was worrying about nothing/not worrying enough! The bleeding has increased overnight so I’m currently trying to call the number I was given
