Not going down well at the mo, tho have persuaded him to let me wipe eye with warm face cloth etc as Dr ordered. Achieved this by showing him his face in the mirror so he could see gunk and what I was trying to do. Offered him the choice of him doing it or me, in a clam gentle way etc blah. Eye drops and cream that have to go inside eyelide are quite another thing however - Please Help!

Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received.

we had to resort to pinning dd (4) down on the floor (me and dh!!) to get eye drops into her after her squint correction operation. After a couple of days she did decide to be more co-operative and we didnt have to hold her down any more - she stood and helped to hold the tube and sqeeze it in. I'm not sure how much of the drops made it to her eyeball but her eye has now improved and is no longer red.

Thanks Seona, makes me feel a bit better about forcing the night time cream in this evening. I did explainit and try and get him to co-operate but in the end decided that it was worse to prolong too much as the fear factor would kick in. Will persist and hope that I get similar reaction to your DD if I continue to explain and bribe/involve.

Thanks v much for posting. Much appreciated, feeling rather sh** for forcing the cream on tonight...

Tell him he won't have lovely blue (or whatever) sparkling eyes if he doesn't have the drops and also offer a large incentive in the form of a large sweet of some sort once he has had them administered. Or if that doesn't work you and DH will have to pin him down!

A combination of the above worked for my ds recently!

Yes umm pinning down has proved the only way since last posting, for the cream at least. For the drops I've had to trick him, so he wanted to pretend to be a baby today and I let him do it for 20 mins or so, then caught him unawares. He's not interested in a single bribe I can think of and says he doesn't want his eyes to get better thanks! Will just have to persist and get as much of the stuff in as I can. Not helped with DH being away all of tody and tonight, but will do my best!

Thanks for all ideas.

Another one for pin down or armlock. The only way to go...
