What do they do with broken toes?

Now, i don't think I'm a bad mother cos they don't do anything with toes do they?? [hopeful emoticon]

DS stubbed his little toe a couple of weeks ago. It clearly hurt, bless him.

It was slightly swollen and there was a little bit of bruising.

He's fine to walk on it, but I was a bit rough putting his sock on this morning and he said it hurts when it gets knocked. He says it doesn't hurt when he walks on it.

I'm not reeeealllly thinking he's actually broken it, and even if it was, they don't do anything with toes, do they?

Do they?

If he was in a lot of pain/discomfort, they might strap it to the toe next door.

They may also strap it if it was the big toe.

Other than that, you're right, nowt!

Good. That's pretty much what I thought. sometimes you just need someone else to agree, and to not come back here and find a list of responses going ""

They plaster the leg up to the neck!

Amphibimum · 26/06/2008 20:46

nah, they do nuffin for a little toe, even if it is broken, which this doesnt sound like it is. youre off the hook love

skiddykipper · 26/06/2008 20:47

I broke my toe and they plastered up to me knee. I jest not.

Tutter · 26/06/2008 20:47

i broke mine this week - i walked into a cast iron doorstop

fecking painful

took painkillers and have gritted my teeth since

that's all that can be done

if it's really wonky they may straighten it, but that's pretty rare apparently

poor ds though

skiddykipper · 26/06/2008 20:48

Up to my knee, sorry, came across all common there

I broke mine once playing football barefoot. It went black. I just taped it to the next toe (and stood at the back when I went to a gig ). It's fine now though

PeaGreene · 26/06/2008 20:49

Crikey Skiddy, that's drastic. Which toe?

The one next to my little toe. It was broken right up by the foot and I couldn't walk on it.

Sawyer64 · 26/06/2008 20:51

You could try strapping it to "partner" toe.It might stop too much movement, and thus cut down the discomfort.

PeaGreene · 26/06/2008 20:51

Eeeeuuw. Painful.

Broke my toe, one next to big one, its bent backwards slightly. Saw pharmacist, told me that they wont do anything apart from possibly just strap it, maybe not even that. however to keep an eye on it, and check for feeling, if a nerve is trapped, which can happen then they might reposition it if needed.

She just told me to take anti-infammatories to reduce swelling and pain.
