Anyone had shakes, fatigue the day after stopping steriods after chest infection , still on antibiotics. What did you do to overcome it .

You aren’t meant to just stop steroids! You are meant to taper down on them and gradually reduce the dose over however long you need to

When I had pneumonia (I get a lot of chest infections!) and was feeling really shaky and exhausted even once the pneumonia had begun to improve, someone suggested Metatone. It really helped me get my strength back. Seems quite hard to get hold of now (I got it in Tesco back then) but if you can get this or similar I think it will really help. Plus as much rest as you are able and plenty of fluids. Hope you feel better soon.

What dose were you taking, and for how many days? After a certain point, steroids must be tapered, no just stopped abruptly.

That’s not always true - short courses/low doses don’t necessarily need tapering. Presumably whoever prescribed the OP’s course has taken their medical history into account when they did the prescription.

Then ask for a cortisol test as you may find you have adrenal fatigue and this could have actually flagged up a condition you already have but hasn’t been picked up before - Addisons disease - a proper cortisol test is essential

Cross posted w the OP…turns out the prescriber had taken their medical history and advised better than MN can!
