Please help, which blood test to order?

I want my son to have a general blood test, he has been under the weather for a while now. (Full disclosure my older child is battling cancer)

When we went to the doctor, I felt fobbed off and that I was being anxious, but last night his swimming coach said that he doesn't seem right.

Now obviously it could be the stress of the situation but I would like to get him checked.

I've looked privately but don't know what blood screen to pay for. I just want a general screen for any deficiency/infection.

If you want to go private I’d book an appointment with a private gp and discuss with them. Those fingerprick home tests aren’t very accurate and I’m not sure they will cover under 18s.

What do you mean the GP sees both children as one?

Is it the one that doesn’t have cancer that you want a blood test for?

I would go back to the surgery, ask for a second opinion, maybe from a different GP and write down exactly what your concerns are.

Yes, absolutely this. You don’t need to pay for this - well you shouldn’t have to.

Full bloods including ferritin. Be clear about your concerns and say a teacher / coach has noticed lethargy.

See a different GP and state

Both myself and various other adults feel he is tired and run down / I previously felt fobbed off (in the nicest possible way) and I would like a full blood test to rule anything out - you are obviously aware older sibling is battling cancer but I just want to rule anything out.
