I’m dealing with the aftermath of a household flood. I cannot leave. It’s is making my asthma worse. I have an unrelated skin allergy, and keep a packet of prednisolone prescribed in case of a reaction where antihistamines are not sufficient.

Would it be mad for me to take the prednisolone for the asthma?

@PaperPanama , there are very effective medications you can get if your asthma has an allergic element. My mother used to take antibiotics at times for her asthma but they would be absolutely useless if the cause of your asthma wasn’t a bacterial infection.
You need to contact your GP or go to a walk in centre.

I cannot. I am away from home dealing with a crisis. A very damp crisis. The only way I can get medical attention is if I go sit in A&E or UC for the day - not going to happen unless genuine, life-threatening emergency, as then crisis will not get dealt with. Or if I call 111 after 6.30pm. Which is a possibility. But if their prescription is prednisolone, why wait?

You can’t expect randoms on here to tell you what to take, I understand you’re in an awful situation but you need to get proper medical advice or do what you think is right because you think it’s right. I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much.

You’re right, of course. I just wondered whether others had taken prednisolone for asthma triggered by damp.

I was given prednisolone when my asthma wasn’t controlled, but it was on a very specific schedule. Because the dose and tapering need to be set by a clinician, it’s safest to get proper medical advice. I’d call 111 and explain what’s going on. Hope things improve soon.

Call 111 ,I have had virus and asthma, now on steroids to help with breathing but a reducing amount so speak with a clinician.
