Blepharoplasty

I am booked to have an upper and lower lid blepharoplasty next month for entropion/ lax skin.

if you have had it before, any advice to help recovery etc.

Spend your money on a holiday instead.

Failing that get your blephs out for the lads, blephs out for the lads!!!

It’s not costing me anything. My lower lids are turning inwards and scratching my cornea.

In that case I apologise. Lots of women are now getting this procedure for purely cosmetic reasons. I hope it goes well for you.

I had an upper and my eyes look much better but more importantly I can see better and they’re not making me tired with the weight of my lids on my eyes. Recovery was easy but get yourself some MyHalos 3D sleep mask so you can’t touch your eyes while you’re sleeping for first few nights.

Supportive pillow to sit upright
Sleep mask with indents for the eyes
Eye masks to put in freezer - multiple so they are always cold
prescription free glasses to disguise the bruising unless you already wear specs

And mine was cosmetic and I feel so much happier with it. Much more transformative than a holiday

I went to see a cosmetic surgeon about upper bleph. He sent me away with my tail between my legs and told me to go back in 10 years, so I felt a bit silly and vain. But I will get it done at some point.

My mum had a bilateral upper blepharoplasty. She lives abroad with a similar health system to here. It was deemed medically necessary to stop her eye lids closing over her eyes and also no cost to her. Afterwards, her eyes looked much more visible, younger and brighter. This was done 25yrs ago and I can see that her lids are sagging over once again though. Mine too are heading the same way, so I suspect I'll be looking into it in a few years too.

I'm afraid I can't recall her recovery but it seemed fairly quick from memory. Wishing you all the best x

I’ve seen that blephs out for the lads thing. Frankly bored with women shaming other women for getting things done that they want, or in fact need. Upper bleph is often not merely cosmetic, but even if it is, so what?

It’s just letting women know that it may not be all that necessary for cosmetic reasons. And yeah, I really do think it’s sad, women now cutting out a flap of skin on their eyelid for cosmetic purposes, but you do you. I mean when you think you’ve heard it all…

I’m pretty sure that women who are interested in this are capable of doing their own research and making their own informed decisions about whether they deem it necessary for themselves or not, without reading your rude posts.

i had it for cosmetic reasons. It also improved my self image and made me feel more confident. It was transformational FOR ME. Who are you to decide it wasn’t necessary because it was cosmetic. Or to say I should have gone on a holiday instead.

If it helps you calm down a bit, mine wasn’t for cosmetic reasons. I couldn’t see out of one of my eyes. Absolutely delighted to be able to both see properly now, and look loads better into the bargain.

Such a shame when posters are so aggressively unpleasant about another’s woman’s choice which has LITERALLY no bearing on their life.

Just personally amazed we’ve now got to the stage, where women feel the need to cut out eyelid flaps of skin for cosmetic purposes.

I am intrigued by the fact that you think this a new thing. It’s been a thing for cosmetic purposes for many decades, and medical purposes for millennia - there’s nothing new about it.

More people might be having it done now, I suppose. But it’s puzzling that it strikes you as new.

Puzzling that more women now feel the need to do it, yes, but not too surprising I guess when I really think about it. The lengths some women will go too is astonishing.

I don’t keep track of the latest cosmetic surgery fads, I’m sure they can do pretty much anything these days if you want it.

This one is on the rise though.

Anyway, stepping away from the de-rail, which I more than contributed to (sorry!).

I found mine a bit of an ordeal tbh. I did have some complex issues with fat displacement into the eye socket (gross!) and a lot of bleeding afterwards. It all resolved though, and barely any pain at all.

One thing to bear in mind for recovery - you are not meant to bend over for some days afterwards, to avoid pressure on the eyes. So if you have small children or animals to look after, you will need to draft in some help.
