... how long does it take before the results come up on your NHS app?

We know our lab turns round most common tests in 24 hours, but we are currently waiting between a week and 10 days to see our results on the app and it feels like too long.

It depends. If I have them taken at the surgery in the morning, they will go to the hospital late morning, so just a couple of days. Otherwise, they don't go till the next day.

Once I was sat there, needle in the arm, when the courier guy came in and the nurse asked him to wait while she filed another couple of vials of my blood (different coloured tube caps,) so he could tale mine, to.

Occasionally I have had yo go to the hoptal as the surgery phlebotomy was on holiday, so obviously that's quicker.

My surgery are usually pretty good about reviewing results (and queries and medication requests,) plus I am rarely champing at the bit to find our, as they're generally routine, so the results are usually there by the time I think to check.

My last one was within 3 hours! Saw GP, went to hospital phlebotomy straight after for the test. Less than 3 hours later GP phoned me to tell me she'd prescribed something to start immediately and I needed to be at the hospital medical assessment unit at 9 the following morning

Usually within a couple of days though for the routine ones.

Of course they’re not going to be visible to you until they’ve been either autofiled (as normal) or reviewed by a clinician (if not normal).

Can you imagine? We get hundreds of blood results back daily, and if the patient could see them first they could be calling to discuss their results, whether normal or not, as they don’t necessarily understand the results.

Why does utilising a clinical safety process make your surgery useless? Honestly just stop and think for a minute.

@NorthernDancer the requesting GP may be on leave seeing as it’s summer, or off sick. The blood results may be reviewed by another clinician but often routine bloods will await review by the requesting clinician to follow up.

Been waiting since 24 June....

Im in North Wales and we can’t even get results on the app, the surgery won’t give you them unless it’s been a full week!! I lived in England until Covid and it drives me mad!

where the lab is for example in hospital lab or somewhere else.

Some tests take longer and are not that simple

Some places like to review them before they release them

Bloods taken at GP are usually available on NHS app via PKB within a day or so. They are then reviewed by GP and available with comments on the surgery app a few days later.

Ours are available on the hospital MyChart app that evening usually, even if it’s the GP that’s requested them. Then they are available on the GPs notes/website once they’ve been reviewed and filed by a clinician. But we’d absolutely see them first if we have the hospital app.
The only thing that is held back is scan results I think.
