Open gall bladder surgery recovery time and hospital stay experiences

Has anyone had their gall bladder removed by open surgery (not keyhole)? I've been told a few different things: will be in hospital 5 days and then told 5-7 days. Told I would need 6 weeks off work, then told 6-8 weeks. I know this is all very individual but has anyone had this and what was your experience, please?

I've had mine out but keyhole, is there a reason they are opting for open?

Yes, there is a possible abnormality that they want to be able to take a good look at.
