Tap water or bottled water

I need to try drinking more water but obviously bottled water everyday is expensive so does everyone drink tap water.

Most of the NW has water so hard that Vinnie Jones is scared of it. I never stop descaling my kettle and I'm thinking of buying shares in dishwasher salt manufacturers.

It tastes nice to drink as cold water but you need the special hard water version of Yorkshire Tea to get a decent brew. I don't care because I drink coffee.

Provable poisoning of actual people?

It costs more energy to make and recycle a bottle than it does to never make the bottle in the first place

A bit longer than half an hour. I was told to let the water sit in a bucket for a couple of hours before putting live fish in it.

One of the few things I miss about sunny Jarrow was the Tyne-sourced tap water.

I’ve been drinking bottled water since I was 17 so a lot of years. I’m so use3 to it I can’t go back to the tap. I recycle everything so am doing my bit, and my carbon footprint is minuscule, but I still feel guilty about my plastic bottles. But water is my main drink. Well, after wine!

You can get 5l bottles with lugging handles on the top. I use them for prepping or when camping.

Fridge has a built in filter and we drink that. So tap water but filtered. If I didn’t have that I’d buy a Brita or something similar.

Yes have seen these, not really much good for at home for us but thanks, too chunky & hefty. We can at least stack the usual ones. It’s a space thing, though I guess these might save costs?
we have discussed a water cooler thing where you can use these actually, might revisit that one.

I have always drank tap water. I have a couple of water jugs in the fridge to keep it cold and it’s lovely.
I will only buy a bottle of water if I am out and really need a drink or when abroad and the tape water is not good to drink.
Buying water is a waste of money and is terrible for the environment with all that plastic

I have a couple 1 litre glass bottles which I fill with tap water every evening and refrigerate. It stays cold in insulated water bottles during the day which is great when I’m working or out and about and ensuring sure dc drink throughout the day.
if you don’t like tap water, boil the kettle, let it cool then decant into glass bottles during and put in the fridge.
i also add slices of lemon / lime / orange or cucumber and mint to my ice cubes to flavour the water if I want a change!

M&S do a 5l box of spring water - comes with a little dispenser so you’re not having to lift/pour an ultra heavy bottle. They’re brilliant, we buy 2 or 3 per week and it has saved us from having to invest in a water cooler. Much less plastic waste too.

Not a waste of money in my eyes if it’s what you genuinely like drinking - we much prefer mineral water. Must be about 15 years since I drank tap! Even our kettle has a Brita filter in it.

Get a Quooker tap for cold, filtered water, sparkling water as well as boiling water.

Tap water. With it being so warm, we've bought a filter so we can have cold water without having to run the tap for ages, waiting for it to come through, and avoid wasting loads. I bought me and my husband a 1 litre flask, each, which we will up with water, ice and lemon. Stays cold all day. Really freshing and we always have H2O readily available. I didn't used to drink anywhere near enough water. Now I'm having at least 2-3 litres per day.

I stopped buying bottled water years ago but I highly recommend buying a filter jug. You'd be amazed how much cleaner and clearer the tap water is when it's been filtered. If I get lazy and fill the kettle from the tap, the scale build up is awful but filtered water keeps the kettle clean AND it tastes so much nicer. I keep one in the fridge and one at room temperature. Always change the filters according to the instructions.

Well I think it is a terrible waste of money to buy something that comes freely from the tap but if you want to spend your money that way it’s your choice.
What about the usage of so much single use plastic though?

Agreed. Same applies almost everywhere in Europe. Myths from decades ago about not drinking the tap water.
I keep some big bottles of tap water in the fridge. Reusable bottles to take out.
