Stomach cramps and upset stomach lingering after eating beetroot

I've had a stomach ache since 01 July - so just over two weeks now. It started after I ate a lot of beetroot that I'd grown at the allotment. Had diarrhoea the morning after and terrible cramping pains. This has got a bit better, then worse, then better and now worse. Sometimes I feel nausea but haven't been sick. Keep burping a lot. Still have upset stomach most mornings but not all day. I still get hungry and have been eating. Stupidly ate some more beetroot yesterday (there's a whole raised bed of it at the allotment) and now it's really hurting again.

Not sure what I'm asking really. Has anyone ever had lingering stomach cramps after having upset stomach or after eating beetroot? Is it likely to be anything serious. I know nobody can really answer than. I guess I'll have to make a GP app and in the meantime I'll leave the beets alone!

I had this, and it was gastritis. Lingered for a good couple of weeks. I tried all sorts but the only thing that helped a little was Gaviscon.

Is there any possibility that it's not the beetroot per se, but something contaminated in the soil they've been growing in? How are you eating it?
As you've been suffering on and off from this for two weeks, I'd make a GP appointment just in case it's unrelated to what you ate. (or even if it is)

I love beetroot so grew my own. Had really bad tummy cramps and explosive diarrhoea shortly after. Because I’m an idiot I carried on eating it.

I don’t know it’s of super fresh of what but I just can’t eat it. Supermarket beetroot is fine. My friend grows it and offered me some, I said I’d love to but it doesn’t agree with me, she said oh I know same with me.

Was it cooked or raw? That sounds painful if you do head to the GP you can get something a bit stronger than gavison to settle your stomach that may help settle the flare up.

Just keep an eye that it’s not something else like gallbladder or appendix.. as I blamed a burger for feeling a bit off and turned out it was a 15mmm gall stone!

Beetroot was roasted in air fryer with chilli which prob didn’t help. Had scan as get pain under rib. Have polyps in gallbladder but no stones. This isn’t same sort of pain. I will go GP. Not today as I’m off for an afternoon tea for my birthday. I’m not going to miss this!

I had still been having such awful cramping, right up to last night. I went to my GP who did a FIT test (for bowel cancer) a general poo test to look for infections. I also had blood tests CA125 test for ovarian cancer, LFT, Blood Sugar, inflammation, thyroid. All tests came back good.

On Monday it dawned on me that this all started since I began taking Nutrition Geeks Magnesium Glycinate. Googled this and it causes the exact symptoms I have been having since 01 July especially the feeling of "tightness" in the stomach.

Just thought i'd come back to say I've solved the mystery and it wasn't the beetroot.
