Insect bites TMI pics included

Help please!! Does anyone know what these bites are? Woke up with them this morning before a work trip. Took antihistamine and applied insect bite cream but it’s not helped and they have grown over the day. Husband and kids had nothing, just me. First two pics are this morning, last two this evening. Want to scratch my legs off!

I had ones like this and it was a horse fly, ended up needing antibiotics... I'd draw a ring round the outline of them and if they're bigger in the morning make an appointment at the doctor, I feel for you, looks so painful and itchy!

Double the antihistamine dose,

DD and I get bites like these from Mozzies. They take 10 days to go away and turn into hard purple bruises. Piriton is very good for bites and the pharmacist recommended Hydrocortisone cream to us too

Long shot but could it be shingles there very much in line with each other as though they are tracking a nerve

They’re mosquitoe bites. I had exactly the same last week and found 2 dead on my windowsills.

Is this a horsefly bite?

They’re just normal bites but you’ve reacted to them quite badly. I do the same and it’s very very itchy and frustrating! 1% hydrocortisone cream is quite soothing

If I get a mosquito bite they look like that, I react quite badly to any insect bite. As a pp said, double up on the anti histamine

If you are in the Uk. You can go to a pharmacy and they can give you antibiotics now for an insect bite under the pharmacy first scheme - speaking from bitter experience!

Thank you everyone so much. I’m going to get up early and try and find a pharmacist tomorrow in the hope that they can help. My husband reminded me that when I got bitten years ago on holiday my whole leg became swollen so I have form for this.

I'm unfortunately extremely familiar wit horsefly bites.
It very much looks like horsefly bite.
Be careful and try not to scratch it, draw a ring around any redness and swelling now and keep an eye on it.
They are very likely to cause cellulitis.

I’ve got two the same and my whole arm and leg area around the bites became hot, tight and painful. I got penecillin from the pharmacist and hydrocortisone cream.

Anyone know how to prevent them?

Try some toothpaste on them husband got bitten when we was in turkey and toothpaste helped with the immense itching .... worth a try then you can get something from the chemist in the morning

I get this from horse fly bites, they’re nasty!

You could have basically been very sensitive to insect bites (and I react like this too with great big inflamed bites that are really itchy and quite lumpy/hard).

I think the (genuine) actual term is skeeter syndrome.

I remember getting so badly bitten with mosquito bites in Spain as a child that my eye literally just almost closed, it was that swollen after the bite on my eyelid.

Plus now, perimenopause isn't helping my sensitivity either.

Sympathy and solidarity OP. Antihistamines and Sudocrem or Germolene work well.

I also remember my mum using a hideous bite type cream/solution ob me as a child, called AfterBite. It smelt horrible but seemed to work well. It might not be available now 😕

I've been bitten during the night. My finger was so itchy, turned purple. Bloody mozzie. We never used to get them around here. Climate change I guess.
